When my son was 3 years old, he lost his favorite stuffed animal. He and I looked and looked for his little, stuffed puppy everywhere but we couldn’t find it. I don’t remember who suggested it, but we decided to pray. We knelt down on the playroom floor and asked God to help us find his toy dog. I immediately had the thought, “Look in the backpack.” I remembered a small backpack in the closet my son had been playing with the day before. We looked inside and there was his lost puppy!

The memory of a short but sincere prayer to help my little boy find a lost toy has stuck with me for years.

As a mom, this experience reminds me Heavenly Father cares about the little, mundane things we regularly experience as moms. God isn’t off in the distance watching us but not engaging in our lives. He is with us through everything. If God will help my son find his beloved stuffed animal, He will help me and you with the much bigger things we face as a mom.

Motherhood can feel like wiping the same noses, washing the same clothes and driving the same places over and over and over. You might even feel sometimes that being a mom is a thankless job. Heavenly Father knows mom life can be hard. He understands all of those feelings.

He cares about the small things we do every day in our life as a mom because He wants to be our partner in motherhood.
